California Clean Air Day is being celebrated on Wednesday, Oct. 6 this year and you can help do your part to help keep the air you breathe clean and safe by joining in on the celebration this year. Good air quality is important for everyone, especially kids your age, because your lungs are still developing and are highly sensitive to harmful air pollution.
There is no better way to help celebrate California Clean Air Day this year than by asking an adult to help you visit the California Clean Air Day website and take the Clean Air Pledge for Kids. By taking the online pledge, you are promising to do your part to help keep the air quality clean in and around your home!
Here’s how you can take the Clean Air Pledge for Kids online before California Clean Air Day:
Step 1: Ask an adult to help you visit California Clean Air Day’s website at https://www.cleanairday.org/pledge/kids and take the Clean Air Pledge for Kids!
Step 2: Read about things you can do to help, including:
- Biking to school, the store, or a park
- Walking to school, the store, or a park
- Growing a seed or plant a garden
- Planting a tree
- Telling your adult driver to turn off the car in the school drop off or pick up line
- Giving a report to your class on the environment
- Doing an air quality experiment. Conduct an air quality experiment using items you already have at home. Follow the step-by-step instructions here.
Step 3: Add ideas of your own in the box at the bottom of your screen. For example, instead of walking or riding a bike, you can ride your scooter to help reduce air pollution, too!
Step 4: Type in your name and click on the blue “pledge” button at the bottom of the screen to receive your Clean Air Day certificate! You can share the Clean Air Day certificate and images you receive on your social media!
